Construction documents

Construction documents, known in Turkish practice as uygulama projesi, turn the agreed preliminary design into drawings that a contractor can price and build from. Every wall thickness and build-up, every window size, all levels, materials and junctions are defined. In Turkey the architectural set is usually drawn at 1:50, with larger-scale details for critical points.

What the set contains

  • Fully dimensioned floor plans and a roof plan with levels
  • Sections through the stair and other characteristic points
  • Elevations annotated with materials
  • Wall build-ups, window and stair details
  • Room data sheets and door and window schedules

Where disciplines meet

Architectural construction documents never stand alone; they must agree with the structural, mechanical and electrical sets. A window that clashes with a column, or a duct that does not fit under a beam, becomes an expensive surprise on site. BIM-based workflows make it easier to catch these clashes on screen.

Renders at this stage are often used to lock down materials and colours. Our article on architectural services and phases sets out the project stages and what each one covers.
