D5 Render
D5 Render is real-time rendering software built for architectural visualization. It uses the ray tracing capabilities of the graphics card to produce reflections, shadows and indirect light that are more accurate than a conventional real-time engine usually manages. It is a standalone program that connects to design software through plugins.
How it works
The model is prepared in a program such as SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, 3ds Max or Archicad and sent to D5 through a live sync plugin. Changes made in the design program show up in the D5 scene, while material and lighting settings are kept. A ready-made asset library includes plants, furniture, people and materials, and scattering tools fill a landscape quickly. Environment settings such as time of day, weather and season update on screen instantly.
What it is used for
D5 is used for interior and exterior stills, short animations and 360-degree panoramas. Because it runs in real time, testing camera angles and lighting is fast, which helps offices working to tight presentation schedules. Since it relies on ray tracing, graphics card compatibility and power are decisive, so check that your card is supported before installing.
